The Kappa Mikey Karaoke Movie Soundtrack

It’s High School Musical meets Lost in Translation in this pop, rock and punk soundtrack from Nicktoons’ Network animated Kappa Mikey karaoke movie special.

From the early success of its opening theme song “Hey (X2) Look (X2)” performed by Sony Music Japan’s Beat Crusaders, music has been a huge part of Nicktoons Networks’ hit break-out animé series Kappa Mikey. Now, in the spirit of High School Musical and Naked Brothers Band, Kappa Mikey has it own all musical movie–and album!

Whether an energizing rap, a psychedelic dance video, or a gut-wrenching lament, each character sings a personality-specific song. The movie is a great introduction to the series for new viewers and a terrific nostalgia trip for existing fans.

When Mikey stumbles across a karaoke machine hidden away in LilyMu Studios, the gang encourages him to give it a try. Unwilling to sing, Mikey inadvertently insults the Karaoke genie living within the machine, thereby placing a curse on the entire group that forces them to sing instead of speak. A musical “LilyMu” won’t sit well with the fans so Ozu is forced to cancel the show and let Socky take over LilyMu’s timeslot.

With the show canceled, the LilyMu gang begins to go their separate ways. As everyone says their goodbyes, Mikey ponders how they know the words to the songs. Mitsuki points out the bouncing karaoke ball and like that, they follow it across Tokyo! The ball leads to the genie for whom they must prove their devotion to karaoke. Luckily, the genie is won over by an exuberant karaoke performance and LilyMu is saved!

Happy New Year Kappa Fans

“Clip from The Fugi-Kid (107). Despite Ozu’s warnings, Mikey borrows one of the LilyMu set’s most valuable props — a hi-tech jacket on loan from the government that can turn invisible at the press of a button. When the jacket is stolen by a one-armed man, Mikey soon finds himself on the lam from the Feds.”
